The Series Is Set

The Cardinals and the Tigers are heading to the World Series.  Since the Tigers spend Spring Training here in Lakeland, you know who I'll be pulling for.  Normally I'm a Braves man, but I'll make an exception this year.  :-)

It reminds me of that old children's song, "I went to the animal fair, the birds and the beasts were there . . ."

A Legend Falls

Legendary golfer Byron Nelson passed away today.  He was a champion on and off the course.  I remember an interview he did a few years back where he talked about his Christianity and churches.  Funny for a golfer to be commenting on that but the quote was so good I Googled it.  Here it is:

"In these troubled times, there are many people who haven't been religious who are thinking about joining a church. That can be confusing, because there are so many to choose from. My advice is to choose one that is active in the community. The doctrine is important, but helping people is sure to please the Lord."

Motorcycles CAN Fly!!!

MotorcycleIn case you missed it, motorcycles can fly!  Forget the NFL "Hall Of Fame" game.  Forget the Yankees being in first place (boo!).  Forget the women's British Open.  Forget the NASCAR Alltel 400.  The sports event of the weekend was the 12th X-Games where Travis Pastrana nailed the double backflip in the Motorcycle Freestyle Jumping.  That's two . . . count them . . . two . . . backflips on a motorcycle.  Unreal and historical!!!  I remember when we thought Evel Knievel jumping 13 buses was a big deal.  Check out the video at You Tube, you won't believe your eyes!
